i’ve been raising chickens for almost two years now and i just learned there’s a collar you can put on roosters to reduce the volume of their crowing and i’m PISSING myself watching videos of collared roosters trying to crow

we almost got one of those collars because we had two silkie chickens and one of them turned out to be a rooster!! and its illegal to own roosters in town dkfnjg but we liked him....he was named Yeti and was white
sadly our big hens were mean to the silkies and neither of them survived bc they overheated due to the hens bullying them/chasing them out of the shade ; ;

I LOVE SILKIES!! i've always wanted one but my dad doesn't want "fancy breeds" :\
i'm sorry you lost them though oh my god that's terrible ;_; we've always had fairly good luck with our chickens... heck we even have had two roosters at two separate times and they would get along. our first rooster got along with his brother (but we gave his brother to a good home anyway because dad didn't want to keep him) and we only kept Pep. then we hatched a fertilized egg that turned out to be a rooster, and Pep accepted his son pretty quickly (even though he easily could have killed him) and they got along fairly well. sadly we gave his son away last weekend ;; and i was really attached to him, BUT he's in a good home
how many chickens do (or did? idk if you still have them!) you have? i didn't know you had any!!

we used to have a black hen (Celery), though im not sure what kind she was?? two leghorns(Elsa + Taylor Swift), and a rhode island red (Ham) originally! My sister names all of our chickens haha
bbut then we had the 2 silkies, Candy, a black hen, and Yeti, white rooster (I got to name yeti!)- the original 4 in our flock didn't accept them very well, mostly Celery since she was Very territorial, and they bullied them into overheating??
We also at one point had silver-laced polish hens ! But they got some weird sickness that made their legs weak and they also ended up passing away pretty young ;; ;
But then we got our 4 ameraucana hens! Sugarplum, pinecone, domino, and tinkerbell I think?? are their names!

Currently we only have Elsa, Ham, and the four ameraucanas anymore!! And Elsa and Ham are getting pretty old, but Elsa still is laying eggs which is kinda weird haha

CELERY... HAM... PINECONE... DOMINO... YOUR NAMES ARE SO CUTE...

was Celery perhaps a Black Jersey Giant? our Giant is named Mhysa and we call her the grandma of the flock because, when we first started, we had her as an adult, and then four babies. and she raised the four babies and then we just grew from there to now a flock of thirteen. and she is literally like the top rung, she is the Queen and she's very dominant. i love her so much :'D they have strong personalities so i just wondered!

that's so cool tho! i'm a total chicken nerd so i love hearing about others' chooks... 'v' if you have any pics... wink wonks

dkjf theyr all NAMED BY MY SISTER!! shes 5 so theyr a lil...creative haha

Actually I think so!! She was the top of the flock and would push around our other chickens but she was super aggressive haha
One of our leghorns was missing feathers because of how often she'd peck at them
Since Celery passed away, I think Ham is the more dominant one but all of our chickens kinda...coexist now without much trouble

yea!! Theyre my stepmoms chickens and I don't really have pictures of them since I dont go outside too often dkfjd but mayb..sometime i will show u
